Job Description
You are required to have a minimum of one year experience in the Job Opportunity Specialist or AJOS position to be eligible for this role.
This job opportunity, currently a temporary appointment, may lead to a permanent role as an Associate Job Opportunity Specialist (AJOS) upon successfully passing the required exam.
Family Independence Administration (FIA) offers temporary support to individuals and families in need, helping them achieve self-sufficiency through various essential programs and services, such as temporary cash assistance, SNAP, childcare, eviction prevention, job training, and more.
The Inquiry unit at FIA handles investigations, determines responses, takes necessary actions in POS/WMS, delivers responses to clients, and closes inquiries within a specified timeframe.
As an Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist I, you will report to a Supervisor and be responsible for addressing and resolving inquiries and complaints related to Cash and Emergency Assistance (CA), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP).
FIA IRU supports Job, SNAP, and HEAP Centers by conducting eligibility interviews, resolving complaints, handling application processes, and providing support services at various offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Access citywide complaints and inquiries and manage transactions from POS/WMS
- Review cases, take necessary actions, and seek approval for responses
- Facilitate eligibility for benefits including Cash, Emergency Assistance, SNAP, and HEAP
- Engage in dispute resolution processes and ensure compliance with decisions and orders
- Inform clients of resolutions and update records accordingly
- Process requests for Supplemental Cash and Emergency Assistance
- Refer participants to appropriate services to promote self-sufficiency
- Review and correct data entries, generate reports for supervisors
- Handle special projects such as audits and application backlogs
Salary Range:
$56,179.00
Work Location:
4 World Trade Center
Hours/Schedule:
Monday - Friday, Flex Schedules
Qualifications:
- Four-year high school diploma with three years of experience in social/human services
- Baccalaureate degree with eighteen months of work experience as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist
- College credit substitution available for required experience
