The Role:

As the Manager for Data Security Engineers, your primary responsibility is to oversee processes and workflows related to data management to ensure the protection of the organization's data assets. The goal is to maintain high levels of confidentiality, integrity, and privacy. The ideal candidate will have a track record of leading data risk management functions across multiple domains and regions, ensuring compliance with US and international regulations. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for overseeing data movement and monitoring practices in alignment with GM's Privacy and Enterprise Risk Data Management strategies. Collaboration with Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Product Development teams is essential to establish scalable policies that guarantee data compliance across various internal and external data assets.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead a team to plan and implement the Data Risk Management program in collaboration with various departments.
  • Develop and implement data security strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits of data systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend security enhancements.
  • Investigate and resolve data security breaches, including forensic analysis and remediation.
  • Stay informed about the latest data security threats and best practices to proactively enhance security measures.
  • Establish security training programs to promote a culture of data security and compliance among employees.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to ensure data security when shared with third parties.
  • Enhance the Enterprise Governance program by providing guidance on data security best practices.
  • Work with Enterprise Data Analytics & Insights Portfolio Management to prioritize Data Risk Management activities.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • 7+ years of experience in driving data technology transformations.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience at the Enterprise level.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Experience with security tools and technologies.
  • Proven track record in change management processes related to data security.
  • Strong knowledge of data encryption, access controls, authentication mechanisms, and network security protocols.
  • Experience with data governance tools and platforms.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA.
  • Ability to define and track key performance indicators related to Data Risk Management.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred):
  • Relevant certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CRM, CDPSE.

Compensation: The provided salary range is an estimate and may vary based on relevant factors. Additionally, there is an incentive pay program based on company and individual performance.
