TrueNorth Steel is hiring a Corporate Inventory Control Manager This position is responsible for the overall management of inventory control for TrueNorth Steel, including policy/procedure development, training, auditing, and monitoring.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall management of TrueNorth Steel inventory including policies/procedures, management of site personnel and monitoring of site inventory including cycle counts, inventory setup, obsolete/slow-moving inventory, safety stock and nonconforming inventory management.

ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS
  • Follow all company safety and quality requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor companywide standard inventory control policies and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor companywide processes for receiving, usage, and shipping.
  • Develop, Implement, and monitor companywide standard cycle counting process.
  • Identify major inventory control weaknesses and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Implement and monitor standard procedures for inventory transfers between locations.
  • Monitor obsolete and slow-moving inventory items at each site and work with sites, purchase, and sales to find other uses or disposition.
  • Participate in New Product Development Process to insure potential obsolete inventory is used/disposed of in a timely manner.
  • Monitor cycle count performance report to ensure all site tasks are getting completed timely.
  • Assist Quality in determining root cause for corrective actions involving cycle counts.
  • Work with each TNS site to address corrective action results.
  • Monitor scrap report for each site.
  • Functional Team Lead for Inventory Control, Shipping and Receiving.
  • Responsible for managing all site Inventory Control personnel.
  • Responsible for training all site personnel on standard policies, procedures, and work instructions for Inventory Control.
  • Responsible for performing a minimum of semiannual cycle count audits at each TNS site depending on errors found.
  • Perform analysis of inventory trends.
  • Work with Sales, Site Management and Purchasing Teams to determine min/max levels for stocked inventory.
  • Responsible for attending MRB meetings to assist in determining disposition of nonconforming product.
  • Responsible for calculating monthly inventory turns per site.
  • Up to 50% travel to all TNS sites is required.
  • Willing to work flexible hours and overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES
  • Understanding of internal controls for inventory.
  • Knowledge of inventory and WIP/BOM transactions in an ERP system.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong systems background.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must have ability to remain flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business management or related field or equivalent experience of 10 years or more in manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.
  • 5 years experience in manufacturing with inventory control experience, preferably with steel products.
  • 3 to 5 years supervisory experience preferred.
