SUMMARY

Responsible for managing material procurement, Strategic supplier relationships, and supply chain optimization. Prioritize cost-efficient procurement, risk management, and sustainability measures. This role is crucial for ensuring timely, quality-driven production and regulatory compliance. Strong analytical and negotiation skills are essential in this dynamic manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify and manage strategic suppliers for raw materials, inputs, and other components needed for can manufacturing. Evaluate strategic suppliers based on their capabilities, quality standards, pricing, and reliability.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure cost savings, quality assurance, and timely delivery. Develop contracts that outline pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Continuously assess and optimize the supply chain to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize costs. This may involve streamlining logistics, implementing vendor-managed inventory systems, or exploring alternative sourcing options.
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain, such as price fluctuations, supply shortages, or geopolitical issues. Develop mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of these risks on production operations.
  • Work closely with suppliers to maintain high-quality standards for raw materials and components. Establish quality control processes and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through value engineering, alternative materials, bulk purchasing, or process improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or reliability.
  • Foster strong relationships with key suppliers to enhance collaboration, communication, and innovation. Encourage suppliers to provide insights and suggestions for process improvements or product innovation.
  • Stay updated on market trends, industry developments, and technological advancements related to beverage can manufacturing and raw materials. Use market intelligence to anticipate supply and demand dynamics changes and make informed sourcing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to sourcing, environmental sustainability, and ethical sourcing practices. Drive initiatives to promote sustainability throughout the supply chain, such as recycling programs or the use of eco-friendly materials.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor supplier performance, cost savings, and other key indicators. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management to communicate sourcing strategies, achievements, and challenges.

Requirements

Computer Skills:

The ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internal software programs), with advanced presentation skills and the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets. Prior experience with ERP systems (Infor, SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, etc.) and scheduling software is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

CPIM, CSCP, or other similar certifications are preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or Business with 3-5 years' experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management.
