Discovery Senior Living is looking for an Assistant Executive Director - Resident Services to join our community Aston Gardens at Pelican Marsh.

The Assistant Executive Director is responsible for assisting the Executive Director with the overall day-to-day operations and leadership, management and success of the community.

Assists the Executive Director with planning, implementation and evaluation of various community operational procedures. Oversees a department in addition to the duties outlined below.

Responsibilities:


Establishes a functional knowledge of all operating programs including business office, HR, memory care, clinical, dining, facility and recreational programs.

Assumes the necessary duties in the absence of the Executive Director as required.
Steps in and oversees specific departments with open department head roles.
Initiates proactive communication with residents, family members and team members.
Maintains high customer satisfaction and ensures a quality-oriented workforce.
Performs regular community walk throughs, makes recommendations on community improvement and preventative maintenance.
Reviews team member and customer surveys and acts; accordingly, institutes appropriate corrective actions in a timely manner.
Develops a thorough working knowledge of state regulations, policies and procedures dictated for residents; ensures compliance.
Ensures community is in compliance with OSHA requirements; in collaboration with Human Resources Specialist
Assists the ED in meeting the financial targets.
Ability to fully support the sales and marketing through networking, presentations and participation in the move-in process.
Works with ED to overcome competitive obstacles.
Adheres to the community budget and participates throughout the financial/budget process.
Ensures budgeted revenue is achieved or exceeded by maximizing occupancy and room rate.
Reviews monthly financial statements with the ED, implements plans of action for deficiencies.
Manages variable and other productive labor to benchmarks adjusting timely to occupancy and service level changes.
Manages key, non-labor operating costs in line with budgeted levels.

Participates in a support function for the ED in the managing/submittal process of monthly expenses and budget data, timely per internal business controls.

Participates in consistent, effective Resident Council meetings.
Collaborates with the ED to meet NOI/House Profit expectations.
Collaborates with Department Head to create and execute consistent labor schedules seven days a week.

Relating to Resident Services:


Makes all residents, whether new move-ins or those who are already established, feel at home, and lets them know there is someone who can and will help them with any inquiries or problems they may have with a focus and goal on Resident retention.

Identifies residents with physical or mental needs and recommends necessary services. Follows up with visits and phone calls until the situation is resolved or improved.
Assists in coordinating visiting physician's patient schedule. Works with contracted Home Health Care nurse, as appropriate.
Coordinates resident follow-up care, with discharge planner to facilitate timely and safe return to the community.
Acts as liaison between IL and AL.

Attends staff meetings of both communities as deemed necessary; leads in the transition of residents from the Independent to the Assisted Living Community.

Tracks resident hospitalization and emergency room visits and makes routine hospital/rehab visits to coordinate services upon return.
Maintains a "Hot List" of residents who may need monitoring for physical and/or emotional problems.
Ensures that all resident concerns and problems are relayed to the proper department and follows up to ensure finalization.
Initiates correspondence or projects regarding resident issues or attends meetings, as requested by the Executive Director.
Executes all new resident orientations, both individual and group
Supervisory

Assists Ed in overseeing all departments, maintaining full responsibility for efficient operations and compliance with the financial goals established in the approved Operating Budget.

Promotes development of team management skills, capabilities and sharing of best practices.
Addresses team member concerns directly, contributing to low team member turnover and increasing engagement.
Resolves team member issues locally, timely and effectively.
Maintains appropriate level of part-time staff to prevent overtime, staffs peak activity periods.
Actively promotes qualified internal team members to key leadership positions.
Ensures consistent and timely orientation and ongoing training is delivered to team members.
Ensures that appearance and presentation of staff is professional.

Promotes a positive and efficient work atmosphere by establishing an organization that has a formal system of accountability and clear chain of command.

Performs all other duties assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration or Health related field.
Prior leadership experience (with the senior care industry preferred).
Previous management experience including hiring, coaching, performance management, daily operations supervision and discipline.
Demonstration of success in managing operating expenses.
Administrator

License/certification

may be required per state requirements.
