Position Overview:
The

Manufacturing Institute (MI)

is seeking a pro-active, curious and entrepreneurial communications professional,

Senior Manager for Workforce Insights

to lead its "Content Support Team". This position is responsible for the developing and executing tactics required to execute the organization's thought leadership strategy

. This includes the development of a wide array of written content related to manufacturing workforce issues and also supporting the creation of many of the MI's research projects. This position is instrumental in developing, collecting, examining, and packaging data and analysis of thought leadership projects of relevance to the manufacturing sector and various related constituencies.

It is essential that a successful candidate have strong analytical and written communications skills, the ability and judgement to work closely with manufacturers and internal stakeholders to prepare reports and to present the results of publications in professional settings.

This role develops content to be deployed to an array of MI audiences and channels, primarily in support of its "Solutions Center".

This position also works with the in-house creative and communications teams who are charged with deploying and marketing the content that they develop.

This position has supervisory responsibility for the MI's Content Manager who will develop and execute short-form content to share insights through social media posts, newsletters and web-based updates.

In this capacity, the Senior Manager for Workforce Insights oversees the management of the MI's social media channels and helps create and maintain relevant and updated content on our website.

In addition to the MI's work to build and deploy manufacturing workforce solutions, in partnership with some of the leading consulting and economic research firms in the country, the MI studies the critical issues facing manufacturing and applies that research to identify causes and develop solutions that are implemented by the MI program teams, companies, schools, governments, and organizations across the country.

This role will work closely with the MI's Chief Program Officer and Research Director to support the collection, analysis and reporting of these efforts.

Join the MI Team and Make an Impact in the Following Ways:

Developing, maintaining, and identifying opportunities to relay written content from across the Manufacturing Institute's programs and Solution Center to share with manufacturers and partners.

Content to include white papers, analysis of workshops, events, case studies, research summaries and impact reports.

Manage the development of the MI's monthly "Workforce in Focus" publication that highlights the latest data and sharing our insights on trends in the manufacturing workforce.

Draft and develop summaries of MI events, convenings and workshops to share key insights and takeaways with external stakeholders.

Curate and maintain an evolving collection of research, project, and event summaries, talking points and high-level recommendations to be deployed through a wide range of written communications, newsletters, blog posts, events and speaking opportunities.

Support the work of the MI's program and initiatives by creating impactful and concise written materials to relay actional insights and recommendations on the manufacturing workforce to a variety of stakeholders through the MI's Solutions Center and via other venues.

The ability to analyze data, document trends in published government data and prepare insights and reports for the MI team to bolster the organization's mission.

Draft and execute survey tools to collect data and input for various research projects.
Manage the professionals responsible for managing the MI's social media content and related web-based materials.

This position supports the MI's Chief Program Officer and Research Director in preparing original analysis on relevant research topics of importance to the sector in the form of written publications, briefings, postings, etc.

These studies would incorporate existing thought leadership, survey results, publicly available data sources, and interviews with manufacturing leaders and employees.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for managing the MI's Content Manager
We are looking for Ambitious Candidates who meet the Following Criteria:
A minimum of a four-year degree, or equivalent work experience

Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated history of preparing and writing research papers and white papers for a non-academic audience.

The ability to complete complex assignments with high levels of independence and provide guidance to other members of the organization in a project management capacity.

Experience in managing small teams is preferred.

A minimum of five years related experience working in non-profit associations or workforce development roles – or related fields is preferred.

Operate well in small collaborative team and possess high-levels of customer service acumen focused with the ability to interact regularly with staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Proficiency in MS Office programs and SharePoint required.
Must be well organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure and able to manage workload to meet deadlines;
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, perform multiple tasks using various software applications.

The ability—this is important—to travel for work. You will likely have 1-2 overnight trips each month. This will vary and we respect that each candidate will have different needs.
