General Description

  • Understand and comply with all Title 22 requirements.
  • Support the philosophy of the school and the Director/Administration.
  • Provide visual observation and supervision of each child assigned to your care at all times.
  • Interact and engage with children on their level.
  • Assist children with personal hygiene.
  • Assist children with snacks and lunch.
  • Provide needed first-aid or medical care and report incidents immediately.
  • Assist in updating Parent Information Bulletin Board and student belongings.
  • Follow teacher's guidelines for curriculum, activities, and classroom maintenance.
  • Attend meetings and required training sessions.
  • Participate in school events and family activities.
  • Pro-actively seek solutions following proper communication channels.
  • Continuously pursue professional growth in child development.

Interacting with Students
  • Positively interact with all students and impart care and respect.
  • Create equal opportunities for all students to learn and thrive in the environment.

Supervision

Assistants report to the Preschool Assistant Director and work under teacher's supervision in classrooms and on the playground. This position involves overseeing all children in attendance at all times.


Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Must meet Title 22 requirements and have 12 core Early Childhood Studies Units.
  • Prior classroom experience is beneficial but not mandatory. Continued education in Early Childhood Education is encouraged.

Working Conditions

Able to work outdoors in varied weather conditions to supervise children. Physical abilities include bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs, and providing aid in emergencies. Ability to manage classroom dynamics and schedule changes with a positive mindset is essential.


Mental Work Demands
  • Prompt and regular attendance is vital.
  • Availability for evening events, occasional travel, and adaptability to schedule changes.
  • Capable of handling challenging situations with students and parents/guardians.
  • Manage classroom dynamics effectively, including overseeing assistants and aids.
