Overview:

The Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the Church and School facilities. This position involves daily cleaning tasks, event setup and breakdown, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cleaning of glass doors and windows.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas within the premises.
  • Sanitize and maintain restrooms, ensuring they are well-stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Clean kitchen floors and manage waste disposal throughout the building.
  • Dust and wipe down walls, polish brass fixtures, and spot clean upholstery as needed.
  • Maintain exterior cleanliness by sweeping walkways and picking up litter.
  • Respond promptly to urgent cleaning needs during scheduled shifts.
  • Assist in setting up furniture and equipment for various church activities.
  • Support church members during special events, including loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Ensure the security of the building by locking all entry points and activating the security system at the end of the day.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, notifying the Facilities Coordinator for reorders.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in commercial cleaning practices and familiarity with cleaning equipment.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills.

Physical Requirements:

This position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand, walk, lift, and operate cleaning equipment. Candidates must be capable of lifting up to 70 lbs and performing various physical tasks, including bending, stooping, and moving furniture.
