The individual in this role is tasked with the daily upkeep, organization, and sanitation of church and school facilities. The Custodian plays a vital role in ensuring that the environment remains clean, safe, and operationally efficient. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cleaning duties for glass doors and windows.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas within the church.
  • Sanitize and maintain all restroom facilities.
  • Restock restroom supplies including toilet paper, soap, and hand towels.
  • Clean kitchen floors and maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas.
  • Manage waste disposal by emptying trash bins throughout the building.
  • Dust and wipe down walls and surfaces.
  • Sweep and mop all floor areas.
  • Polish brass fixtures and maintain their appearance.
  • Conduct spot cleaning of pew cushions and carpets as needed.
  • Maintain exterior cleanliness by sweeping walkways and picking up litter.
  • Respond promptly to immediate cleaning needs during scheduled shifts.
  • Set up furniture and equipment for various ministry activities.
  • Assist church members during special events, including loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Report any accidents or injuries that occur on the premises.
  • Secure the building at the end of operations, ensuring all guests have exited and locking all entry points.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, notifying the Facilities Coordinator for reorders.

Expectations:

All staff members are expected to consider Crossroads Church their home church and embody its values through a lifestyle centered on Christ, Cause, and Community. Collaboration with team members is essential to maintain a balanced work schedule, and participation in special events is required.

Qualifications:

Experience in commercial cleaning is essential, along with knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and equipment usage. Proficiency in English is required, as well as the ability to follow safety protocols and instructions related to cleaning products.

Physical Requirements:

This position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand, walk, lift, and operate cleaning equipment. The Custodian must be capable of lifting up to 70 lbs and managing furniture without assistance.
