Job Title: Street Outreach Worker

Company: The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area


Overview:

  • The primary purpose of the Outreach Worker is to provide street outreach services to individuals, especially youth, who may be at risk of running away, homelessness, and sexual exploitation.
  • We are looking for compassionate, outgoing, and caring staff willing to be actively present in the community, on the streets, and in parks to make a difference.
  • Responsibilities may include managing a case load and conducting home visits.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Street Outreach services to high-risk youth primarily during afternoon and evening hours.
  • Collaborate with other agencies within the Onondaga County Agency Community.
  • Offer crisis intervention by providing emergency basic needs and access to shelter if necessary.
  • Introduce street youth to the services available within The Salvation Army.
  • Assist in transitioning clients from street outreach services to ongoing case management.
  • Support Drop-In Center coverage and handle assignments as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Previous experience working with youths.
  • Possess a valid NYS Driver's License that meets insurance requirements of The Salvation Army.
