Company: National Park Service
Duties:
- Inspect and repair historic steam and diesel locomotives and railroad cars
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems
- Understand and maintain various systems
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Pass background investigation and drug test
- Hold a valid State Driver's License
- Wear a uniform and adhere to NPS standards
- Be willing to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Complete a probationary period
- Possess Asbestos and Lead Abatement certificates
- Travel occasionally for work
- Obtain a government charge card for travel
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Interpret instructions and blueprints
- Use and maintain tools and equipment
- Knowledge of equipment assembly, repair, etc.
- Technical practices and trouble shooting skills
- Ability to perform complex tasks in heavy equipment repair
Volunteer Experience: Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, is valuable and can enhance job qualifications.
Education: Education cannot substitute for experience in Wage Grade (WG) positions.
