POSITION SUMMARY:

Infection Control Nurse (RN) Part Time : Administer the Infection Control Program as it applies to patients, employees, and visitors to the hospital. Provides for employee safety and well-being.

Job Duties/Resposibilities:

Coordinate the program of infection control, prevention, and surveillance as approved by the Infection Control Committee. Authorized to institute infection control measures deemed necessary when there is reasonably felt to be a danger to patients, personnel or visitors until such time as advice can be obtained from the physician member of the Infection Control Committee. Tracks and works in conjunction with unit physicians and nurses to assure compliance with the Texas Department of State Health Services standards, OSHA requirements, JACHO standards. Track employee illness for infection control purposes. To assess patient care and need for consultation.

EDUCATION:

Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Documented evidence of Infection Control training

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION:

Required: Current Texas State Registered Nurse License

Certification in Infection Control or Occupational Health

EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: One year psychiatric nursing experience.
