Job Description:
The Birth Defects Registry Coordinator (Health Data Coordinator H02150) is the primary implementer of the Nebraska Birth Defects Registry.
The Coordinator provides training and technical assistance to laboratory facilities, hospitals, and clinics across the state to ensure proper identification and reporting of birth defects in Nebraska's children with the goal of helping them live better and healthier lives.
The Coordinator is tasked with developing and implementing data quality efforts so that birth defects are properly enumerated and reported to the agency, providers, federal partners and the public.
Additionally, the Coordinator is tasked with:
- The implementation and development of scientific investigations and research concerning the causes, methods of prevention, treatment and cure of birth defects through collaboration with epidemiology teammates and clinical partners.
- Representing Nebraska through presentations at national meetings, workgroup conferences calls, grand rounds, advisory committee meetings.
- Serving as a subject matter expert for internal programmatic planning.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Statistics or related field and one year experience in statistics, data collection, data management or related area OR Bachelor's degree in Statistics or related field plus three years experience in any of the above or related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Statistics, or Health Education, or Nursing coupled with substantial experience spanning multiple years in the analysis, interpretation, and management of epidemiological data related to the specific disease or health subject area.
Other:
Core schedule 8am to 5pm Monday - Friday, however, infrequent evening hours may be required to provide training to reporting facilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the causes, methods of prevention, treatment and cure of birth defects; public health surveillance; and data quality and governance.
Skills:
Clinical experience or history of working with clinical data.
Ability to work evening hours, infrequently, to provide training to reporting facilities.
