Overview

Join us as a Senior Engineer - Vehicle Durability CAE and contribute technical expertise in the field of vehicle durability using CAE methods. You will collaborate closely with design teams in creating top-notch Electric Vehicles to support Canoo's mission in the Autonomous sector and to make EVs accessible to all.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities (Core Aspects of the Role)
  • Apply CAE techniques to assess performance in Durability, Stiffness, and Strength attributes for EV structure/Battery systems
  • Optimize mass for various vehicle systems including BIW/Closures/Powertrain and Chassis
  • Develop and maintain the vehicle durability model
  • Analyze results and provide design recommendations to interdisciplinary teams
  • Assist in correlating CAE models with component, sub-system, and vehicle testing
  • Collaborate with suppliers/test vendors to enhance material database and accuracy of CAE models

Qualifications

Required Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent field
  • Over 5 years of experience in CAE durability analysis within the automotive industry
  • Hands-on expertise in CAE model development using HyperMesh/ANSA
  • Proficiency in FE solvers Optistruct, Nastran, ABAQUS, with knowledge of LS-Dyna as a plus
  • Experience with fatigue calculation tools such as nCode/FeSafe, and Random Vibration analysis
  • Strong grasp of solid mechanics, materials, and structural requirements, with Battery system knowledge preferred
  • Structural Optimization experience in Topology/Size/Shape optimization
  • Previous experience in durability test planning for vehicle level tests
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results within tight deadlines in a collaborative environment
  • Detail-oriented with a creative problem-solving mindset
  • Team player with a diverse background and open-minded approach
  • Strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and data-driven decision-making
