General Statement of Duties:
The Director of Career Services providesleadership and direction for a comprehensive career development programto support the University\'s students in making informed decisionsregarding undergraduate and postgraduate plans by providing resourcesand opportunities to encourage career exploration and self-assessment.
This position directs the operation, policy-making and development ofcareer services for students.The role requires active and innovativeoutreach to alumni, employers, donors, and members of WSU and externalcommunities, and engagement of these constituents in the mission andwork of the department.
Required Qualifications:
Master\'s degree instudent personnel, higher education, human resources or a related fieldand a minimum of 3 years of experience supervising professional staff ina college/university career center.
Demonstrated successful experiencein forming and maintaining excellent relationship(s) with variousconstituents both on and off campus. Knowledge of career developmenttheory and its application. Understanding and appreciation of thegrowing role technology plays in delivery of career services. Experiencewith career-related technology and website management tools Excellentoral/written communication skills and teaching/presentation skills.Ability to work some evening or weekend hours for the purpose ofrepresenting the department at university events such as orientationsessions.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the positionwith or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to successfully pass athorough background and CORI check.Preferred Qualifications:
Full-timeexperience on a college/university student services staff.
Importantknowledge and capabilities necessary include career counselingtechniques, knowledge of job trends and career development skills, andeffective public relations and networking abilities.
