We are currently seeking to add a summer Environmental Health and Safety Intern to our dynamic team in Portland, Oregon.

$22-25 an hour. Interns 21 years of age or older receive 401(k) benefits.

The primary task is to provide quality assurance oversight during the removal of asbestos-containing building materials. The asbestos removal is performed by others, PBS acts as the owner's representative ensuring the work is performed correctly. PBS has an opening for an intern who under the direction of experienced PBS staff will collect air samples and develop field notes. The intern will assist in collecting air samples and document site conditions through written notes and photographs. The intern will work in support of and with experienced PBS staff. This role is field-intensive, the work schedule usually mirrors the site construction schedule. PBS will provide the training required to support the work, although the primary task is the oversight work, the intern will also perform a wide variety of Environmental Health and Safety work with various PBS staff within our diverse disciplines.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Self-motivated.
  • Timeliness.
  • Be able to pass a background check.
  • Authorized to work in the US.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license.

Desirable Qualifications

  • A science-based education/background.
  • Experience with air sampling.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with Environmental Health and Safety tasks associated with various projects.
  • Perform project tasks under the direction of senior Environmental Health and Safety staff.
  • Actively communicate with project managers and team members.
  • Be on the job site collecting observations.
