The Role:
We're currently seeking a Senior Sensor Engineer with a specialization in LiDAR technology. Join us in our mission to elevate vehicle safety by developing cutting-edge sensing solutions.

  • Engage directly with internal stakeholders, understand product development goals, and define sensors/Lidar requirements.
  • Investigate various depth sensor/LiDAR technologies to identify those most suitable for integration into our devices, considering performance, schedule, cost, and residual risks.
  • Design sensor/LiDAR characterization plan, define test scenarios, develop and manage test stations, and evaluate Lidar performance against the requirements. Perform data analysis and communicate findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Investigate new sensor technologies and product applications.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with theoretical understanding and characterization of various 3D optical sensors.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sensor characterization and sensor technology development. 2+ years system level device integration experience.
  • Understanding of basic statistical methods to analyze and process large data set. Experience with quantitative data analysis software (MatLab, Python)
  • Experience with technical document writing skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with photon budget analysis, diffraction optics, sensor modeling.
  • Prior experience in the development of consumer electronics.
  • Familiar with various Lidar/Radar technologies, including spinning Lidar, hybrid solid state Lidar, SPAD array Lidar, FMCW, mmWave Radar, etc. Hands-on experience with at least 2 Lidar technologies.
  • Familiar with optical beam propagation, signal processing, and signal/noise chain analysis.
  • Understanding of robotics technology, SLAM, obstacle detection, or sensor fusion.

The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market.
