This person will provide Communication Support Writer/Editor Support.

Responsibilities

Write and edit CDC content, including materials for infection control guideline and recommendation efforts, training resources, web content, policy statements, and reports based on the NCEZID communications format.

Collaborate with communications, policy, and scientific staff to create educational materials, talking points, promotional materials, blog content, policy statements, reports, public presentations, and other online content; ensure that all materials are based in science and are audience-appropriate.

Coordinate major announcements or awareness efforts; collaborate with key communications, web, and media staff to successfully coordinate with dissemination.

Collaborate with CDC's Communication Services to create graphics, video, and images to convey information. 4.

Coordinates with staff across the agency and external partners to promote CDC guidelines and recommendations; maintains external partner relationships to ensure CDC has these connections during an outbreak.

Ensure consistency of all messages and materials with other CDC recommendations and recommendations of partners.

Ensure that all communications materials follow best practices for health education, risk communication, and plain language by following the CDC communications policies and format.

Assist with formative research and coordination of gathering, organizing and editing metrics. Analyze and extrapolate solutions after reviewing data.

Create, review, or work with CDC graphics staff to create and review compelling content that could be used for reports, presentations, website content, social media outreach, policy, and partnership outreach, etc.

Participates in meetings as representative of the DHQP communications team and provides meeting updates/summary to relevant team members.
Provide consultation support to the CDC in triaging and developing responses to DHQP inquiries to CDC-INFO.
Proactively identifies, researches, and resolves problems or issues; participates in team strategy session to discuss solutions. Proactively recommends updated strategies to improve analysis tactics and outreach efforts.

Format and send Abode Campaign (or other email subscription platform) messages, format and post Safe Healthcare blog entries, moderate (review/approve/triage and/or respond to) blog comments, and/or use the WCMS to update or edit DHQP Intranet content.

Use SharePoint for workflow/task management.
Follow Section 508 guidelines when preparing electronic documents that will be posted online or distributed via email. Use HHS Checklists to help ensure compliance with the guidelines.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience to substitute.
Four (4) to seven (7) years of relevant, direct comparable or similar work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Computer skills to include but not limited to, skills in operating Microsoft Office software, with emphasis on Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook as well as SharePoint.

Skills in managing and prioritizing multiple assignments with strict deadlines and ability to coordinate efforts among many offices.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
Expertise to prepare and present information/data via oral briefing(s) and/or by written reports
