About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach plays a pivotal role in a high-level Division I department that values the entirety of the student-athlete experience. This position will work with Olympic sports as assigned.

Essential Functions:
  • Design, organize, implement, and supervise strength and conditioning programs for Olympic sport teams as assigned.
  • Design, organize, implement, and supervise multi-faceted training protocols and modalities that are research driven and backed in alignment with the Olympic Human Performance philosophy and guidelines. Maintain performance records.
  • Collaborate with the sports medicine staff on injury management protocols, lifting modifications, return to play/reconditioning protocols. Coordinate appropriate lines of communication with student-athletes, sports medicine staff, athletics administrators and coaching staff to provide feedback. Attend practice and games to provide warm-up, cool-down and monitor modified programs as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with various support services in the Athletics Department and campus constituents (Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Team Physicians, Sports Nutrition, Mental Health).
  • Comply with and ensure all NCAA, Conference affiliated, Athletic Department, industry, and institutional guidelines, recommendations, and regulations; and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes is always protected.
  • Provide a safe and appealing environment for all student-athlete with guidance and proper training techniques for all strength training equipment to ensure safe and proper use and educate student-athletes on proper exercise techniques and appropriate training methods. Assist in scheduling the Salvino S & C Center and other facilities as utilized.
  • In conjunction with sports nutrition, provide basic nutrition counseling and assist in the education & deterrence of athletic injuries resulting from speed, strength & conditioning related activities. Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to individual sports & strength and conditioning areas.
  • Aid in maintenance and cleaning of the weight rooms. Maintain continued education units and current first aid/CPR and AED. Assist in developing Olympic strength and conditioning interns. Other duties as assigned.
  • Position requires regular evening and/or weekend work for practice and competitions.
  • Position may require occasional travel for road competitions.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree is required. Master's preferred. Degree in kinesiology, exercise science, physical education, health sciences, or relate field preferred.

A minimum of one year strength and conditioning experience is required, preferably in collegiate athletics and/or professional athletics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly and develop effective relationships with athletic training staff, sport coaches, student-athletes, and administration. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. A strong customer service orientation is essential.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Candidate must demonstrate a strong working knowledge in Olympic based strength training movements, load monitoring, exercise selection and implementation, programming speed, plyometrics, agility, and conditioning.

Candidate must be First-Aid/CPR/AED Certified and have proof of certification of CSCS or SCCC by accrediting organizations.

Candidate must have a working knowledge of MS Suite. Experience with TeamWorks preferred.
