Position Overview:

This role entails full-cycle software development, encompassing design, testing, and implementation for different rail products. The ideal candidate should possess experience in designing robust software, familiarity with multiple programming languages, and a commitment to creating top-notch products.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like:

  • Undertaking software design, maintenance, enhancement, and testing
  • Developing software test requirements and presenting technical findings
  • Collaborating with the product team to enhance safety-critical systems for Wayside devices
  • Guiding and educating engineers

To Thrive in This Role, You Have:

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of software development experience
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages like C and C++
  • Commitment to code quality and best practices
  • Experience with embedded systems and Linux
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills
  • Interest in learning new coding languages

To Further Thrive in This Role, You Preferably Have:

  • MS/MA in Computer Science or related field
  • Background in railroad signaling and locomotive control
  • Knowledge of ADA and EN50128 Standard
  • Experience with communication protocols and real-time operating systems
  • Familiarity with languages like Python, Perl, and Java
  • Experience with UML and SCM software
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design
