Overview of Position:
Quality Assurance Supervisor

  • Responsible for carrying out established quality programs for the Krispy Kreme Manufacturing Mix Plant. Responsible for checking all ingredient mix production in the mix plant and providing detailed documentation of all raw material and finished product testing. Periodic testing of pilot batches, test batches and special mix runs will be required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in quality assurance and food safety programs in the mix plant.

This includes HARPC system, regulatory audits, quality systems review process (QSR), standard operating procedures (SOP's), incoming ingredient inspections, product scoring, food safety audits, standardized work instructions and product quality, and routine inspections.

Execute new quality assurance programs for continuous improvement of Krispy Kreme doughnut products and operations.
Leads efforts for training on quality standards.
Ensure facility meets all requirements related to product safety as related to HARPC/FSMA and general employee safety.

Develop and maintain systems to ensure compliance to all QA requirements including document control and record keeping, specifications, verification, product identification, product traceability, product recall, incident management, and food safety fundamentals.

Drive improvements in key customer/consumer quality attributes.
Assist in training and maintain all training records for critical SOP and quality requirements. Document and maintain training registry for all employees at the manufacturing site(s).

Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred, or a potential risk has been identified related to food safety and/or quality attributes.

Reassess QA plan whenever there is a change to program, process, procedure, ingredient, equipment, industry philosophy, technology, etc.
Daily testing and documentation of finished mix produced in the mix department and raw materials used in production.
Set-up, clean, and break down quality instruments used in the lab.
Communicate finished mix approval / rejection to all interested parties.

Essential skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or other Food Science related field preferred.
Experience with quality, formulation and equipment related to the food industry.
Food ingredient industry experience preferred.
Flour or dry plant industry experience preferred.
PCQI certification preferred.
2+ years in a manufacturing facility environment with technical experience.
Knowledge of HACCP/HARPC quality guidelines.
Knowledge of writing corrective and preventative actions for investigation reports.
Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to analyze processes for biological, chemical, and physical hazards with a thorough

understanding of the science and support behind each type of hazard and each step within the production process.
Ability to work in a collaborative environment with cross-functional departments within the organization.
Good problem solving and corrective action/resolution skills.
Strong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel, Power Point.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High level of motivation and strong work ethic.
Pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
