Junior Accountant to add to the team The Junior Accountant will join the existing Accounting & Payroll team, as well as, document the company's financial transactions, prepare financial statements, manage payroll, manage project accounting.


Essential responsibilities include:

  • Balance and maintain accurate ledgers.
  • Monitor expenses and enter cash receipts.
  • Process AP by matching purchase orders with vendor invoices, preparing checks/payments, and tracking bank account balances.
  • Process AR by scanning and depositing checks, coordinating bank deposits, and reporting financial results.
  • Key, code, and track operating invoices.
  • Create new vendors in accounting software.
  • Reconcile and balance accounts.
  • Complete check runs.
  • Process and reconcile credit card statements.
  • Calculate and prepare quarterly and monthly tax returns, along with payroll, operating, and business taxes.
  • Run monthly financial statements, including cash flow, P&L, trial balance, income statements, and balance sheets.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Verify the accuracy of transactions that have been entered.
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely incoming payments.
  • Study financial trends to determine future business needs.
  • Track sales targets.
  • Complete and track lien waivers with checks, as needed.
  • Customer service-related duties, as needed (ie: answering phones, responding to customer inquiries).
  • Contribute to the team effort and company profitability.

Highly qualified candidates will possess most or all of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • 3+ years' experience working in general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and financial reporting, with a focus on Accounts Payable
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and income tax worksheets
  • Knowledge of payroll processing
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel
  • Experience using Microsoft GP/Great Plains, preferred
  • Experience filing tax returns on state websites
  • Experience with multi-state entities a plus
  • Ability to communicate professionally and confidentially, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn and cross train in other accounting areas
