This position will end effective one year from start date. Subsequent annual renewal of employment will be based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding.

Purpose


This position is dedicated to research utilizing the UTEX Collection and mentorship of students and staff in order to enhance the value of UTEX holdings and expand UTEX outreach and education capabilities.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and perform independent research that utilizes and characterizes Culture Collection of Algae (UTEX) holdings.
  • Participate in ongoing internal research projects and coordinate with UTEX staff to develop laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Meet with the Curator regularly to discuss external funding, research coordination with external organizations, composition and publication of manuscripts, and problem solving with respect to research projects.

$59,000 + depending on qualifications
