Responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining manufacturing processes utilizing methods such as data analysis, Lean Manufacturing, Design for Manufacturing, and Demand Flow Technology. Engage with R&D at early design stages to define the manufacturing process in parallel to product development: (process flow, tools, fixtures, documentation)

Position Summary

The Master Scheduler is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Master Production Schedule (MPS). The MPS establishes the required production build for the monthly/annual revenue plan as well as establishing the projected forecast demand in the ERP system to ensure sufficient inventory to meet production requirements. An advanced level of material planning, manufacturing process, and ERP knowledge is required and a knowledge of the procurement environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and tactical leadership within the business' SIOP process.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve this process and further optimize Comtech's business processes.
  • Act as a focal point between Sales, Marketing and Operations to ensure configured system orders are scheduled to meet customer demand, manufacturing cell capacity and free of any discrepancies.
  • Responsible for the creation and continuous update of the MPS that satisfies customer demand, maintains stability in terms of material and capacity requirements, and minimizes Raw and Finished Goods inventory levels.
  • Review the business' forecast demand. Work with Sales and Purchasing to confirm appropriate lead time considerations to ensure appropriate incoming material to fulfill orders.
  • Evaluate ongoing impact of "performance to forecast" on inventory levels for the current month and implement any necessary changes to the MPS. Assess the impact to capacity, inventory levels, and purchase orders that result from any proposed major changes
  • Continuously monitor WIP inventory. Take advantage of any conversion opportunities. Make recommendations for scrapping or potential use for new orders.
  • Interface with Product Management, Engineering, Purchasing, and Planning to ensure smooth transition of new products, prototypes, and components into the master schedule.
  • Evaluate End of Life product transition to recommend correct inventory disposition(s).
  • Coach and train the Planners as appropriate with: Expediting, lead time for quotes, schedule delays, planning change impact to MRP and other unforeseen conditions.
  • Set up new Planning BOMs and maintain/correct existing BOMs in ERP system.
  • Extensive knowledge of MRP rules and MRP implementation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Experience

  • Five years' Master Scheduling or advanced planning experience.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Broad based knowledge of supply/demand process.
  • Proficient computer, MRP/ERP skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills.
  • APICS certification preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
