Job PurposeThe purpose of the Lead Installation Engineer is to be the focal point for a team of engineers to ensure proper planning and execution of post manufacturing services to our customers.

The lead installation engineer will also utilize their technical cross-functional knowledge and expertise to provide solutions to complex onshore and offshore technical issues.

The successful candidate will join a fast pace, technically capable organization that will further refine their technical and leadership skills.


Job DescriptionScope of Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to team of engineers to lead a varied and complex scope of work.
  • Assesses engineering personnel capabilities to recommend proper resource for execution of scope of work

Main Tasks:

  • Act as subject matter expert to provide planned and unplanned technical support, troubleshooting and leadership for onshore/offshore operations.
  • Performs as a process owner and leads continuous improvement initiatives that impact the overall department.
  • Provides technical and tender support for quotes
  • Identifies and analyzes risks associated with engineering tasks.
  • Proactively participates in HSE initiatives, JSAs and risk assessments.
  • Provide interface resolution between TFMC and non-TFMC equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews and consult with other departments on designs, and field related applications.
  • Provide technical input to RCAs and resolution of field non-conformances.
  • Understand and interpret system, field and detailed schematics.
  • Assist in development of specialty equipment needed to support customer operations related to Services engineering

Accountabilities:

  • Coordinates, prioritizes and adjusts the efforts of engineering work performed, including supervision of engineering activities.
  • Supports development of engineering personnel by training, mentoring and coaching to meet business needs
  • Hold/Attend Technical Readiness Reviews (TRR) prior to on-site or off-site execution of work.
  • Hold/Attend After Action Reviews (AAR) following on-site or off-site execution of work.
  • Approves equipment list and document register for projects.
  • Approves technical documentation related to engineering changes: ECN (Engineering Change Notices), Part Reports, engineering specifications/requirements and ensure conformance to all policies and procedures related to engineering deliverables.
RequirementsEducation

  • BS degree in Engineering; BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent preferred.
Work Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in the O&G industry, field experience is preferred.
Qualifications and Skills

  • Flexibility to travel offsite/offshore, when needed.
  • Possess expert knowledge of shop/lab assembly, field installation and testing.
  • Advanced analytical problem solving skills, able to interpret and evaluate data, identify and implement preventive measures.
  • Advanced planning and organizational skills.
  • Experience in the field supporting topsides and controls equipment installation and troubleshooting.

This equipment includes but is not limited to:

Subsea Communication Modules (SCMs), Subsea Power and Communication Units (SPCUs and SPCTUs), Electrical Power Unit (EPUs), Master Control Station (MCS), Electronic Test Unit (ETU), SmartTool 150 and 200e, and Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs).


  • Experience with TFMC proprietary software programs such as User Configurable Open system (UCOS), SmartTool 200e/150, and ETU.
  • Subsea Production System Knowledge (vertical tree systems, horizontal tree systems, intervention systems, manifolds and jumpers, controls):o Operational knowledge of at least 3 subsea systemso Expert knowledge of 1 subsea systemo Cross-functional knowledge between subsea systems.

Advanced Project Management skills, including:

o ability to provide engineering hours for scope of work, and manage hours to stay on budgeto ability to recognize the impact of variations in customer, code or contract compliance as it applies to cost and schedule.

o ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities

Advanced communication skills, including:

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.o Effective understanding and communication within a diverse cultural team environment.o Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, and respond appropriately.


  • Ability to build and maintain excellent direct customer relationships leading to new business opportunities.
  • In-depth understanding of business challenges, and what drives customer values
  • Possess strong PC skills and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Work Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical requirements for offshore work.
  • Must be able to complete T-HUET/BOSIET training

Relationship ResponsibilitiesInternally:
Effective collaboration across organization with other lead engineers, project managers, product performance engineering, planners, workshop engineers and quality engineersExternally: Main technical point of contact for clients engineering personnel, sub-contractors, and third parties to plan and organize scope of work

Work Environment:
Spend 75-85% time in an office environment and/or 15-25% in onshore/offshore field environment.

May be exposed to possible hazards including noise, outdoor temperature extremes, chemicals, pressure testing, heavy lift operations and shop/field traffic.

Hybrid work environment and setup while providing remote installation support for offshore operations. Office environment requires sitting, operating a computer, walking and some lifting. Hands-on labor in shop and/or field environment, requires lifting, walking, stooping, bending, and some climbing.
