Senior Staff Accountant Director of Finance

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Plans and completes activities to meet the reporting deadlines set by regulations or management. Pe1forms daily and monthly accounting duties in a timely fashion to meet deadlines. Researches variances and works with multiple departments to insure financials are reported timely and accurately. Completes month end reconciliations for all assigned general ledger accounts in preparation for trial balance and profit and loss statement reviews.

  1. Essential Duties include the following:
o Draw together data from various systems to create and distribute reports used by executive level management in business decision making.

o Prepare operational data for both internal and external reporting i.e. SEC, Month End reports, etc as required.

o Coordinate, schedule, and assist Management in the preparation of annual and quarterly budgets and forecasts from actual and estimated figures based on business trend studies.

o Organize capital expenditure budgets by forecasting and measure performance through the use of variance reports.

o Develop and maintain the lnfinium fixed asset module.

o Uses judgment and professional skills in determining appropriate procedures for preparation of accounting records, research of transactions, and reporting.

o Assist in the assessment of all Infinium modules for maximum efficiencies.

o Posts monthly journal entries in the general ledger including but not limited to the following: Fixed Assets, Credit Cards, Depreciation and Banking. Completes month-end reconciliations for journal entries.

o Performs daily and monthly accounting duties in a timely fashion to meet deadlines.

o Assists with preparation of all documents requested by outside auditors for quarterly and yearly audits.

o Assists to ensure compliance with Bond Covenants and helps with investment relations as needed.

o Works closely with the Director of Finance and Accounting staff on a daily basis by ongoing communication and consultation.

o Performs monthly accounting duties in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, approved MATGC policies and procedures, NIGC MICS and Accounting department rep01ting standards.

o The ability to share and relate information to team members.

o Technically proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Database applications.

o All other duties as assigned.
  1. Supervisory Responsibilities: None
  2. Education and/or Experience Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business and one year of professional technical accounting experience. Applicants may substitute six years of general ledger accounting experience to satisfy the degree requirement. Experience working with fixed assets and banking required. Must possess quantitative and cognitive thinking skills, as well as good oral and written communication skills.

Candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point with the ability to quickly learn new applications and cross train. Must have a proven record of dependability and performance. Mescalero Apache Tribal preference; bicultural experience preferred.
