Nursing education is a specialized practice that aims to enhance the health of the community by improving the professional competency of registered nurses and other nursing staff.
Scope of work- This role supports nursing education focusing on Women and Infant Services for Community Hospitals within Corewell Health West.
- Collaborating with educator peers and other leaders, the position ensures educational needs are met through standardization, innovation, and evidence-based practice.
- Oversees orientation to equip new hire/transfer employees with the knowledge and skills for safe independent practice.
- Develops, coordinates, and evaluates orientation and competency programs for nursing and healthcare personnel.
- Collaborates with operational leaders to address knowledge and skill gaps in employees.
- Designs educational opportunities to enhance knowledge, skills, and practices, including obtaining continuing education approval.
- Functions as a mentor and resource in the development of nursing and clinical support roles.
- Bachelor's in Nursing Required
- Master's Degree in Nursing Education preferred
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Required within 90 days
- Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty certification required within 1 year
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
