About the Role:

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Learning Assistant Teacher to join our team. As an Early Learning Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities for infant, toddler, or preschool programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and leading of daily lesson plans
  • Engage with children in the classroom and promote a safe and nurturing environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
  • Prepare materials for daily activities and maintain a clean and organized classroom
  • Supervise children at all times and maintain accurate records of attendance and arrival/departure times
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or CDA preferred, or proof of current enrollment in CDA or college-level degree program required
  • Three to six months of childcare-related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children
