Licensed Addiction Counselor

Exempt/Full-time/Great Falls

Job Duties:
  1. Performs work tasks as an Addiction Counselor in areas of assessments; group, individual, and family counseling; lectures; crisis intervention; and outcome reports.
  2. Maintain program record keeping in a professional and timely manner and in accordance with program and state requirements.
  3. Conduct diagnostic/placement assessments; provide group, individual, and family counseling services, client lectures, and case management services, in accordance with best clinical practices, laws, and administrative rules.
  4. Under supervision of Licensed Addiction Counselor and/or Therapist identify, coordinate, and/or provide direct care to consumers with co-occurring disorders.
  5. Required to spend 60% of time per week providing services to clients.
  6. Offer crisis stabilization services, as needed. Refer individuals to needed adjunct services and/or appropriate level of care.
  7. Provide training and presentations to community groups and agencies on related substance abuse topics.
  8. Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with federal and state laws.
  9. Reports to the Addictions Licensed Program Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications: Comprehensive knowledge of addiction, theoretical models of therapeutic change processes, and best clinical practices; primary Axis I and II diagnoses; group theory and practice; instructional techniques; family education and support; working knowledge of assessment procedures, including diagnostics and placement; knowledge of laws and administrative rules relevant to chemical dependency, mental health, and confidentiality; of community resources and referral procedures; and thorough knowledge of ethical performance standards and their application.

Education & Experience:
  1. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in alcohol and drug studies, psychology, counseling, or a related field from an accredited university is required.
  2. Must be licensed as an Addiction Counselor. An equivalent combination of study and experience.
  3. An equivalent combination of study and experience; 2000 hours of supervised work experience in chemical dependency counseling and certification.
  4. Must have a valid driver's license, valid vehicle insurance and personal vehicle.
  5. Excellent computer and communication skills.
  6. In addition, dual license LCPC or LCSW is preferred.
LAC Salary starts at $51,833.00

ACLC Salary starts at $38,625.00
