Discover is looking for an Application Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to ensure the high availability of critical applications such as our Card and Bank websites and mobile application.

Job Description:

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) merges software engineering with IT infrastructure and operations to create highly reliable and scalable software systems. As an Application SRE, you will collaborate with development teams to implement resiliency and service level objectives for our critical applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Application Development teams
  • Implement monitoring and dashboards
  • Automate operational processes
  • Develop capacity and performance management tools
  • Define disaster recovery plans
  • Participate in a chaos testing process
  • Be part of an on-call rotation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years in Information Technology or Engineering
  • Technical proficiency rating of competent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of SRE experience
  • Expertise in programming languages like Python, Go, Java
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and container technology
  • Skills in automation tools and observability tools
  • Experience with dashboarding tools
