PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The primary functions of this position include: strengthening the educational process by improving the ability of students to behave in a positive manner, training parents to use positive behavioral management techniques, and improving teacher implementation of positive classroom management techniques.

The duties include but are not limited to:
  • Identifies and continually monitors targeted students through test scores and attendance.
  • Monitors the attendance, academic progress, behavior, and participation in school activities of targeted students.
  • Implements immediate structured assistance for targeted students with intervention activities and guidance.
  • Meets individually with a minimum of twenty-five (25) targeted students per week to ensure academic and social needs are being addressed.
  • Designs programs that are consistent with the total educational philosophy and goals of the school.
  • Continues professional growth by attending educational meetings, visiting related facilities, reading professional literature, and exchanging ideas among school and district staff.
  • Develops and maintains psychosocial and behavioral data.
  • Collaborates with counselors to implement curriculum emphasizing middle school transition, high school transition, conflict resolution, goal setting, study skills, decision-making, time management, school success, and career planning.
  • Meets weekly with teachers to develop and monitor intervention plans for targeted students.
  • Coordinates with local school and central office departments to provide comprehensive services to targeted students.
  • Coordinates with community agencies to provide comprehensive services to targeted students.
  • Organizes and conducts monthly seminars for targeted students.
  • Organizes and conducts monthly quarterly seminars for parents and community members.
  • Conducts a minimum of two (2) home visits per week of targeted students based on indicators (behavior, grades, attendance, health, career planning, etc.).
  • Works in conjunction with ACIP (ASSIST Continuous Improvement Plan) committee to promote improvement.
  • Works in conjunction with the PST (Problem Solving Team) to plan for and monitor targeted student success.
  • Works in conjunction with ACIP (Assist Continuous Improvement Plan).
  • Maintains accurate and current records.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or teaching credentials from a regionally accredited college or university.

Previous work in the educational field is preferred.

Experience in Behavior Intervention Programs is preferred.

Duty Days 187

Salary Range: From/To Bachelor's beginning pay: $34, This position is for the school term only. Assignment for subsequent years is contingent upon continuous funding. Pursuant to Section 4(3)(b) of the Students First Act of 2011, time employed in this position shall not count towards non-probationary status or tenure with the Mobile County Public School System due to the fact that the funding and duration of this position is finite.
