The Waste Pro Sales Representative plays a crucial role in driving both short-term and long-term revenue growth for WP. This is achieved through targeted prospecting, effective business development strategies, strong communication, relationship building, and consultative selling within a specific Division area (territory). By fostering partnerships and engaging with various stakeholders like customers, commercial clients, franchisers, business leaders, governmental officials, and key strategic partners, the Sales Representative secures new contracts and extends existing ones for the collection, processing, transportation, and disposal of solid waste and recyclables. Leveraging consultative and strategic selling skills, they identify economic and buying influences, collaborate with the Sales Manager and other internal teams like Division Managers to meet client expectations, and successfully close deals. Moreover, this role involves supporting the prospecting initiatives for potential clients within a designated area, including municipal opportunities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develops maximum sales volume and profitability within the defined territory.
- Collaborates with Regional and Corporate Sales Managers to create short and long-term strategic Market and Sales Plans.
- Achieves or surpasses sales call activity targets for new sales.
- Aligns Waste Pro services with the necessary sales support to exceed customer requirements.
- Establishes a robust customer base within the regional geographical area through phone calls and in-person visits.
- Ensures customer satisfaction by actively communicating with customers and seeking feedback.
- Drives the acquisition, retention, and renewal of contracts by building and maintaining crucial relationships with customers, staff, and other decision makers.
- Understands the competitive landscape and utilizes industry/company knowledge to craft compelling proposals.
- Collaborates with corporate sales, marketing, and regional management to develop bid and RFP submissions that meet all specifications and quality standards.
- Engages with WP executives, managers, associates, and customers to identify opportunities and pursue leads.
- Works with Regional Sales Manager(s) to negotiate and secure contracts following the defined sales strategy.
- Conducts billing and contract audits periodically in partnership with finance and regional management to ensure accurate pricing and invoicing.
- Handles complaint resolution and issue escalation in compliance with regulations and in support of customer satisfaction.
- Participates actively in community events to highlight Waste Pro's unique value proposition.
- Keeps management informed of individual and sales activities that could impact the Division, Region, and Company.
- Utilizes available technology to monitor, track, and report sales activity while accurately forecasting revenue opportunities.
- Collaborates with Corporate Sales, Marketing, and Regional Specialists on press coverage, collateral materials, advertising, and sponsorships.
- Stays updated on competitor services and pricing to inform strategic decision-making.
- Utilizes sales automation tools to maintain an organized record of sales activities.
Other Job Responsibilities:
Employees in this role must participate in corporate-sponsored training courses as required. They are also responsible for staying current on relevant technology utilized by Waste Pro.
