Protective Security Officer (PSO) Position at Chenega Corporation

The Protective Security Officer (PSO) is responsible for access control and detecting, delaying, detaining, and/or apprehending individuals attempting to gain unauthorized access to Government property or violating laws, rules, and regulations. The PSO is also required to identify, report, delay, or detain those individuals who breach the rules and regulations as appropriate and in accordance with Post Orders. PSOs must maintain vigilance to observe and provide emergency response to various hazards.

  • Provide on-site protection services
  • Perform all tasks according to the duties outlined in Post Orders
  • Not deviate from the directions provided by the Post Orders except in emergencies or as directed by the COR
  • Perform various security-related duties, based on the type of posts assigned
  • Offer briefings to on-coming PSOs about recent, continuing, or anticipated events and occurrences for the post
  • Maintain logs, reports, and files of all incidents and occurrences encountered during the tour of duty
  • Provide personal escort services for designated personnel, visitors, etc., when directed by the COR
  • Ensure compliance with the contract and meet customer needs
  • Read and become familiar with Security Guard Information Manual (SGIM) before assuming duties
  • Carry firearm license/permit while on duty (Unless local or state law requires the Contractor to maintain records)
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To be successful in this role, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Speak, understand, read and write English fluently
  • Hold a Secret security clearance granted by the Defense Security Service per the requirements of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and the NISP Operating Manual (NISPOM) before commencing work under this contract
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency certificate
  • One (1) year experience as a certified armed Security Officer
  • Basic knowledge of and experience in operating security equipment such as cameras, automated bollards, x-ray machines, access control systems, CCTV systems, and two-way radios
  • Basic familiarity with the duties of a Command Post dispatcher
  • Certified in CPR, First Aid, and the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Certified to provide private security guard services in the state of operation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of TSA and FPS directives related to security operations
  • Familiarity with the Security Guard Information Manual
  • Comprehensive knowledge of security officer patrol functions for maintaining the protective mission's integrity
  • Writing skills to prepare a variety of reports
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer and standard office equipment
  • Capability to use various computer software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, database, and email
  • Completion of all training requirements specified in the SOW
  • Passing a physical aptitude test may be necessary
  • Meeting the TSA standards for contractor suitability set by the TSA Office of Personnel Security

Physical Demands: (The physical demands involve sitting, talking, occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities needed include close vision.)

  • Work Environment: Working in a temperature-controlled office environment with exposure to electronic office equipment. During operational visits, exposure to varied weather conditions and potential hazards like fumes, chemicals, and loud noise may occur.
