Job Summary

The Springfield Museums is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-time Security Officer to join our team. As a Substitute Security Guard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our museum buildings and contents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform various security-related duties, including circulating through assigned buildings and maintaining order.
  • Provide protection to museum buildings and contents, and secure buildings at closing time.
  • Make periodic rounds to ensure the security of buildings and contents, and maintain and update logs and records of any events or circumstances that occur during the shift.
  • Assist staff in security-related matters, and keep attendance count of patrons and answer patron questions or refer them to appropriate staff members.

Requirements:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of a variety of security procedures and the use of security equipment.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • The ability to interact effectively with the public and staff members.
  • A commitment to providing positive public service, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Appointment is contingent upon successfully passing an employment security check.

This position includes days, weekends, and occasional evening hours. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team to provide a safe and secure environment for our visitors and staff.
