JOB SUMMARY The Senior Benefits Administrator Administers benefits-related programs/processes, including medical, dental, vision, cafeteria accounts, disability, life, and supplemental benefit plans. Manages and coordinates monthly benefit enrollment eligibility, benefit terminations, qualifying life event changes, dependent age outs, and age reduction processes. Reconciles monthly enrollment in benefit plans and completes insurance carrier billing payments. Manages COBRA offerings, enrollment, and payment processes. Educates employees/participants on benefit plan offerings and the appropriate use of benefit plans. Oversees benefit premium arrears processes for employees on leaves of absence. Enters and authorizes participant status/eligibility changes in human resource information systems (HRIS), insurance, and other third-party systems. Ensures compliance with company policies and applicable federal and State laws and regulations such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), HIPPA, COBRA, and IRC. Serves as liaison between participants and insurance carriers for enrollment and claims matters. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Human Resource Management, or related field. Certified Employee Benefits Certification (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) preferred. EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years direct experience administering benefit plans. Knowledge: Functional knowledge of laws and requirements regarding defined benefit and defined contribution plans, COBRA, HIPPA, FMLA, and ERISA. Functional knowledge of pension plans, 401a defined contribution, and/or 457b deferred compensation plans is preferred. Understanding of benefit contracts and provisions is preferred. Skills:
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills, including during tight processing deadlines; and skilled in assisting individuals in stressful situations such as death and disability.
  • Detail-oriented, with proficiency in math, research, and database manipulatation
Abilities: Solve complex benefits related issues as they arise. Understand IRS and DOL regulations. Work confidently with plan participants and third parties at all levels (including managers, executives, and retirees). Reconcile monthly billings. Keep accurate records.
