Position Overview
Associate Program Leader (APL) for the Biological Science and Security Program (BSS)
Are you passionate about safeguarding against biological threats? LLNL is looking for an Associate Program Leader to manage the Bioforensics and Genomic Sciences portfolio as part of the Biological Science and Security Program. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, collaborate with various teams, and develop new research opportunities to enhance national security.
Enjoy a hybrid work schedule that allows flexibility between in-person and remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the BSS leadership team, engaging in strategic planning and decision-making.
- Establish a national security capability in forensics and bioinformatics.
- Oversee project management, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Identify and pursue program development opportunities.
- Act as a liaison with program sponsors and government organizations.
- Manage staffing, budget, and resources for program projects.
- Present findings and accomplishments to stakeholders.
- Collaborate on proposal development and program growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Active security clearance (L-level, Q-level, or equivalent).
- Master's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in biological sciences and national security.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and projects.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
- Experience in managing complex budgets and technical priorities.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Advanced Qualifications
- PhD in a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of science and technology projects.
- Understanding of national security mission requirements.
- Ability to champion innovative concepts in biological sciences.
