Job Description
The School of Animal Sciences is seeking an Assistant Professor of Meat Science for a tenure-track, 9-month appointment. The role involves research (60%) and Extension (40%). The ideal candidate should have a solid background in meat science, aiming to produce scholarly outputs to build a national reputation. They will also develop an engaging Extension program for various stakeholders in the meat industry, focusing on aspects like antemortem factors impacting meat quality, fresh meat quality, and food safety. Responsibilities also include contributing to existing Extension initiatives for processors, producers, youth, and consumers. The selected candidate will have access to cutting-edge research facilities and may need to travel off-campus as required. Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in their expertise is expected, along with interacting with students. Promotion of equity and inclusion is crucial, as is occasional travel to conferences and meetings. Successful applicants must pass a background check.

Required Qualifications
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in animal sciences/meat science or a related field by the start date. They should show potential to lead a research program, secure external funding, convey knowledge to stakeholders, have a passion for education, and possess exceptional communication skills. Occasional travel to events is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with a track record in grant writing, experience in Extension programs, and evidence of published research.
