ABOUT MODEL/Z

Model/Z is a pioneering enterprise dedicated to reimagining multifamily housing through the creation of standardized, modular units. Our goal is to deliver superior, cost-effective, and net-zero-ready housing solutions that are scalable and practical, aiming to significantly alleviate homelessness and improve living conditions for marginalized communities. As a predominantly Black-owned and operated business situated in Southern California, Model/Z aims to establish the first standardized modular housing factory in the area.

Located in the historic Watts neighborhood of South Los Angeles, Model/Z is committed to revitalizing communities by hiring local community members and providing fair wages. Our innovative approach revolutionizes construction by transforming the traditional linear process into a parallel manufacturing system, enabling us to construct high-quality apartment homes in a factory setting before the concrete is poured on-site. By empowering Black and brown families and organizations and unlocking the value of underutilized land, Model/Z embodies a model of equitable growth, addressing the critical need for affordable housing in Southern California and beyond.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively.
  • Oversee the implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
  • Establish and optimize factory layout and floor plans.
  • Develop comprehensive manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for new manufacturing setups.
  • Implement advanced manufacturing technologies and automation systems.
  • Conduct regular assessments of manufacturing processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Proficient in manufacturing processes, automation, and quality control.
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective leadership and team management abilities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards in manufacturing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic manufacturing environment.
