JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

To cater to the academic and emotional needs of identified gifted students in grades 9-12.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate student achievement:

Examples of Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction to identified gifted students individually or in small groupsAddress social/emotional needs of identified gifted studentsCoordinate job shadowing and mentoring opportunities, college entrance exams planningResearch and schedule educational options such as dual credit courses, distance learning, etc.Assist with post-secondary research, admissions procedures, scholarship applicationsCollaborate with regular classroom teachers to adapt curriculum for gifted studentsMonitor student achievement:

Examples of Responsibilities:

Track progress of identified students in various activitiesAssess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reportsDiagnose students' learning abilities with district specialistsMaintain accurate records as per regulationsBe available to students and parents outside of regular hours for education-related purposesPerform other assigned duties:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - Bachelor's degree and Missouri Teaching Certification in Gifted Education K-12

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency in designing engaging lesson plans
  • Skilled in software applications like Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Collaborative and effective communicator
  • Superior interpersonal skills for a high-energy educational environment
  • Understanding of District policies and confidentiality requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed, motivated, and independent worker

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other physical activities. It also requires specific vision and hearing abilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:

Primarily works in a classroom setting with occasional travel between 3 schools.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS/ MATERIALS USED:

Utilizes a personal computer, copier, fax machine, and calculator.

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: None

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Assigned to a 191-day work calendar with minimum weekly hours. Compensation and benefits provided as per Board of Education guidelines.
