Position Summary:

This professional healthcare role takes exceptional care of residents by assisting with the planning, organizing, and implementation of therapeutic activity-based programs. The Life Enrichment Assistant utilizes a variety of recreational tools during activities to maintain, improve or enhance cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional functioning through purposeful programming. These Programs are developed to encourage residents to remain as independent as possible, enhance self-esteem and recognize and celebrate life's accomplishments. The Life Enrichment Assistant assists the Life Enrichment Specialist or Activity Director with the planning and implementation of all Life Enrichment programs.
  • Responsible for conducting daily group programs and individual activities that are goal oriented and person appropriate that meets the Assisted Living and Department of Health and Senior Services regulations
  • Treating all residents with dignity, respect and equality.

•Giving, and allowing, resident choice of programs/community roles/and committee's they would like to be a part of.

•Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident's participation during group and 1:1 sessions.

•Report noticeable changes in resident's participation and behavior to the Life Enrichment Specialist or Activity Director.

•Assist with publishing, preparing and distributing the monthly Life Enrichment calendar and community newsletter.

•Perform and direct the movement of residents to and from recreational areas.

•Assist, guide and supervise volunteers as assigned by the Life Enrichment Specialist or Activity Director
  • Coordinate relationships with agencies, organizations, schools and entertainers that provide activities or the residents.
  • Manage supplies/equipment inventory communicate to Life Enrichment Specialist or Activity Director if any supplies are low or need to be replaced.
  • Ongoing contact and communication with residents, families and interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate/facilitate daily activities in the absence of the Life Enrichment Specialist or Activity Director
  • Work alongside Life Enrichment Specialist or Activity Director to coordinate and implement a Life Enrichment Program for Assisted Living Residents
  • Work with Life Enrichment Specialist, Memory Care Program Director (at Sunset Hills campus only) and interdisciplinary team to implement Life Enrichment programs that meet the social needs of The Bridge Neighborhood.
  • Collaborate with Director, Care Team, and families to implement Life Enrichment programs that meet the social needs of the Assisted Living and Bridge Neighborhood Residents, including but not limited to meaningful daily pursuits, daily pleasures, exercise, friendships, growth and learning, personal routines, household rituals, and one-on-one specific programming.
  • Communicate positively with residents, families, and community professionals regarding the Life Enrichment opportunities and its benefits.
  • Cheerfully and cooperatively performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Life Enrichment Specialist or Activity Director.
  • Assist with special event planning.
OTHER DUTIES:
  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Complete competencies, in-service trainings and education sessions as assigned.
  • Attend meetings as assigned in the absence of the Life Enrichment Specialist or Activity Director.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in accommodating requests.
  • Implement positive solutions to problems and processes.
  • Utilize cost containment measures.
  • Ensure quality of services by exemplifying a positive, team-oriented attitude and behavior.
  • Complete all additional work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Life Enrichment Specialist or Activity Director.
Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Required High School Degree.
  • One year of social and recreational program experience in a licensed senior living facility.
  • Experience working with dementia/memory care residents preferred but not required.
  • CPR/AED Certification.
  • Flexible work schedule may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Self-motivated, creative, energetic and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Good visual and hearing acuity required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English in a clear tone of voice.
  • Need to be able to adapt to change and think on the go.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel.
  • Basic understanding of technology and social media: iPads, iPods, Kindles, Smart TV, and DVD players. 1-2 years' experience with public speaking.
