The Position

The Business Excellence Lead will play a pivotal role in guiding the Commercial Strategy and Marketing (CS&M) leadership, with primary focus on therapeutic area (TA) leads to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and industry best practices. This role will foster innovative approaches and processes to enhance business performance and drive sustainable growth across the organization. This role involves developing and implementing capabilities, best practices, processes, and governance across the portfolio to improve launch operations, business performance, program management, and knowledge management. This role is crucial in fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Relationship

This position will report to the Head of Commercial Excellence and Innovation (CE&I). This role will coordinate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, sales, research and development, market access and policy/advocacy (MAPA), finance, operations, global, etc.) to streamline processes and ensure smooth execution of business operations to achieve launch milestones and objectives. Works cross functionally with the global team to ensure launch measurements and governance reviews are on track and align on major milestones and business reporting requirements. The Business Excellence Lead has a team reporting to them potentially inclusive of an operations & program manager, project managers, a business knowledge manager, and a business performance manager.

Essential Functions

Business Process Optimization: Drive initiatives focused on continuous improvement of overall business performance, including launch execution and marketing processes. Assess current processes, identify bottlenecks and gaps, and design and implement process improvements to optimize business performance and launch outcomes based on marketing activities. Leverage innovative tools and approaches to streamline workflows and enhance ROI and performanceLaunch Planning Excellence: Develop and manage holistic, strategic launch plans, including supporting framework identification, processes and a governance structure. Collaborate closely with the TA Leads and teams to provide connectivity across functions, provide guidance on commercial optimization strategies and market readinessMarket Readiness Planning: Develop a consistent and robust approach to market readiness in collaboration with the therapeutic area/brand leads. Oversee and ensure the readiness of launches by monitoring key indicators and success factors within the market. Take proactive measures to improve launch operations process across therapeutic areas.Launch Process and Operations Management: Work with internal stakeholders to ensure successful and timely launch process management. Ensure a standardized approach to launch across therapy areas / brands and that resourcing is in place to support launch strategy initiatives. Owns launch process roadmap to support launch success. Establish processes and governance structure to support new launches, strategic program management, and market readinessTools and Templates: Develop and maintain standardized tools, templates, and methodologies for launch planning, execution, and reporting for use across the organization. Develop and maintain templates for One Impact Strategy Planning. Ensure alignment with industry best practices and organizational standardsCapability Development: Lead the development and implementation of capabilities, frameworks, and best practices to improve launch operations and drive excellence in go-to-market activitiesGovernance and Compliance: Establish and maintain governance structures, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal guidelines. Define and implement robust governance frameworks to monitor and track launch activities, manage risks, and ensure adherence to launch timelines and milestonesChange Management and Process Adoption: Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of new capabilities, processes, and tools related to launch excellence. Develop communication plans, training materials, and stakeholder engagement strategies to promote awareness, understanding, and buy-in for launch initiatives across the organizationRisk Management: Proactively raises risks within business processes and the brand/launch plan to brand and marketing leads. Uses business and launch expertise to inform risk mitigation strategies and assesses potential resourcing needsBest Practice Integration: Capture lessons learned and best practices to apply to future brands and launches. Collaborate with internal cross functional stakeholders to incorporate these into marketing strategies and execution across the portfolio and ensure the democratization of any learnings and data gatheredPeople Development and Coaching: Responsible for setting and communicating clear individualized role expectations for each report based on position, skills, talents, and objectives. Ensure that reporting personnel have strengths-based individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business. Provide regular coaching of reports that prioritizes appropriate challenging, development, feedback, regular recognition, and supportPerformance Management: Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of business operations. This also includes identifying performance gaps and implementing solutions Physical Requirements Approximately 20-30% overnight travel. Development of People Supervisory, ensure that reporting personnel have Individual Development Plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
