Job Title: Ammonia Refrigeration Manager

Job Summary

Join our team as an Ammonia Refrigeration Manager and take charge of maintaining and servicing Ammonia Refrigeration equipment to ensure seamless facility operations. As the Ammonia Refrigeration Manager, your responsibilities include overseeing the Plants Ammonia System, guaranteeing compliance with safety regulations, and providing necessary training to Refrigeration Techs. Your focus will be on ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the Ammonia System for buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform timely preventative maintenance on equipment and systems within the ammonia refrigeration system to ensure optimal functionality
  • Replace faulty refrigeration equipment as required to maintain operational efficiency
  • Control equipment temperature set points to meet customer needs and preserve product integrity
  • Supervise the water treatment system and related chemicals
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all paperwork and reports to meet OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Monitor third-party maintenance vendors working on or near the ammonia refrigeration system for compliance with safety policies
  • Conduct regular ammonia and oil sampling for analysis
  • Provide training to team members on ammonia leak and spill procedures and participate in drills
  • Contribute to Emergency Response planning for the location
  • Inspect, test, and calibrate the ammonia detection system as necessary
Qualifications/Experience/Education
  • Educational background - High school diploma or GED. Additional coursework, technical education, or relevant business experience preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Ammonia Refrigeration experience
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) or the ability to receive in-house training within 90 days
  • Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) Level 1 certification from RETA or Refrigeration Operator Class 1 license, or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Experience in supervising a small group of staff, preferably in a transactional or repetitive process environment
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
Job Conditions
  • Able to independently lift up to 40 lbs frequently and 60 lbs occasionally
  • Comfortable working in a refrigerated warehouse environment with frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and squatting
  • Capable of grasping, reaching, pushing, or pulling items regularly
  • Endurance for continuous, fast-paced work
  • Must pass respirator fit test and potentially wear Personal Protective Equipment if required
  • Adaptable to fluctuating temperatures and able to withstand freezing temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Able to work in a noisy warehouse setting and at elevated heights with appropriate protective gear
  • Comfortable handling products that may contain allergens
  • Proficient in using job-related equipment like computers, cell phones, and scanners

In line with Pay Transparency requirements, the estimated compensation range for this position at BJ's Wholesale Club begins at $82,000. Please note that actual salaries may vary based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
