Position Overview:

The Refrigeration Systems Manager is tasked with overseeing the Ammonia Refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.

This role involves managing maintenance activities for refrigeration equipment and supporting facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely preventative maintenance to ensure the efficient operation of refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
  • Replace faulty refrigeration equipment as necessary.
  • Regulate equipment temperature settings to meet customer needs while preserving product integrity.
  • Manage the water treatment system and associated chemicals.
  • Ensure all documentation and reports are accurate and submitted on time, adhering to OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Supervise third-party maintenance vendors to ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Perform regular ammonia and oil sampling for analysis.
  • Train team members on ammonia leak and spill protocols, providing additional coaching as needed.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and conduct leak and spill drills.
  • Inspect and calibrate ammonia detection systems as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; college coursework or technical education is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Ammonia Refrigeration is required.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) or the ability to receive in-house PSM training within 90 days.
  • Certification as an Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) Level 1 or equivalent is required within one year of hire.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs frequently and 60 lbs occasionally.
  • Capability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat regularly in a refrigerated warehouse environment.
  • Endurance for continuous, fast-paced work.
  • Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures, including extreme cold.
