Job Summary

An Enterprise Monitoring Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the organization's infrastructure, services, and application monitoring systems.

The candidate must understand technologies that are commonly utilized in an IT infrastructure and application monitoring program and will be expected to perform configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of monitoring tools, as well as the analysis and reporting of system performance metrics.

Essential Functions

+ Assisting in the management and configuration of infrastructure and application monitoring tools.

+ Responding to monitoring alerts and performing initial troubleshooting steps.

+ Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of monitoring configurations, systems, and processes, and facilitates knowledge transfer between teams and individuals involved in support.

+ Collaborating with the wider IT team to ensure system availability and performance. Troubleshoot and resolve escalated Incidents and problems, using established Digital Services (DS) procedures for problem and situation management. Participates in the creation of relevant technical and support documentation.

+ Analyzing system and application performance data and generating alerts/reports.

+ Participates in SAFe/Agile framework for project planning and tracking.

+ Participate in project designs and execution to meet the customers' functional and cost requirements, as defined by the overall system architecture specifications and in accordance with the service level and/or operation level agreements.

Required Skills

+ Familiarity with monitoring technologies and platforms such as Solarwinds, Nagios, Dynatrace, Zabbix, Microsoft SCOM, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.

+ Understanding of log collection, management, and analysis tools like Cribl, Splunk, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) or similar.

+ Basic understanding of scripting languages such as Powershell, Python, Shell, or JavaScript.

+ Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure components such as servers, networks, databases, and cloud services.

+ Familiarity with operating systems, particularly Linux and Windows.

+ Knowledge of public cloud service providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus.

+ Understanding of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SNMP, DNS, SSH, syslog, etc.).

+ Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work as part of a team.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Participate in a weekly on-call rotation (which will include M-F business day ServiceNow queue monitoring & incident remediation and may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours).
