Summary

The VAMC in Memphis, Tennessee is recruiting for psychiatrist in multiple different program areas in Mental Health Service, including Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program Clinic, Primary care- Mental Health Integration, Chemical Dependency Center, Medication Assisted Therapy Clinic, and Inpatient Mental Health. The positions are accountable to the Chief of Mental Health, for assuring the most effective delivery of state-of-the-art care by meeting or exceeding compliance standards.

This vacancy will remain open until filled.

The VAMC in Memphis, Tennessee is recruiting for psychiatrist in the following program areas: Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program Clinic, Primary care- Mental Health Integration, Chemical Dependency Center, Medication Assisted Therapy Clinic, and Inpatient Mental Health.

  • Inpatient Mental Health: The Acute Inpatient Mental Health Psychiatrist provides a comprehensive mental health services for a diverse population needing psychiatric stabilization throughout the course of admission. This includes history and physical examinations, mental status examinations, intake assessments, medication management, suicide risk evaluations This staff psychiatrist will work on a multidisciplinary mental health team treating Veterans with a full range of diagnosis, including mood disorders, PTSD, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders and neurocognitive disorders.
These positions may be eligible for part-time telework upon supervisor approval.
  • Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program Clinic: The BHIP Clinic is a general outpatient mental health clinic.The BHIP psychiatrists provides a full array of psycho-diagnostic, psychotherapeutic and pharmacological management. The BHIP Clinic is an multidisciplinary team that provides a wide array of team-based mental health services to Veterans.
  • Primary Care - Mental Health Integration: The (PCMHI) psychiatrist provides outpatient consultative psychiatric services including direct patient care as well as indirect chart-based/e-consultation services in support of the primary care team (PACT). An integral part of the inter-professional team, the psychiatrist is co-located within the primary care setting and works closely with PCMHI team and PACT members to address the mental and behavior health needs of the primary care population. Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based practices are preferred.
  • Chemical Dependency Center: The (CDC) psychiatrist works closely with their colleagues to provide comprehensive, outpatient and residential evidence-based treatment to Veterans recovering from Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The psychiatrist conducts history and physical examinations to include mental status examinations, intake assessments, substance use disorders assessments, and suicide risk evaluations and provides on-going medication management for patients while engaged in the specialty substance abuse treatment programs. Positions are available for the SUD-Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program and the outpatient substance abuse program, which may include ambulatory treatment of medically managed withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, and/or opioids.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Work Schedule: Primarily Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. This position also includes occasional on-call/weekend and holiday rounding as needed by the medical center.
