Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist to join our team of dedicated mental health professionals. As a Psychiatrist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality psychiatric services to individuals in need.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluation and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough evaluations and diagnoses of individuals experiencing psychiatric emergent/urgent or routine conditions in an outpatient setting, face-to-face, and/or by telehealth.
- Pharmacological Treatment: Determine pharmacological treatment for patients, including prescribing medications using InfoScriber, and provide follow-up care as needed.
- Admission and Consultation: Facilitate admitting patients to the hospital or respite and consult with MCRT when necessary.
- Supervision and Coordination: Supervise Nurse Practitioner and/or residents as assigned, coordinate medical aspects of treatment with Nurses, Care Management Supervisor, and Care Managers.
- Treatment Team Participation: Participate and provide supervision of multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and provide consultation by phone when needed.
- Active Role in Treatment: Maintain an active role in treatment planning, including patient follow-up.
- Communication and Collaboration: Consult with outside Physicians regarding care managed consumers as necessary and assist with communication to the PCP.

MHC was founded in Nashville, Tennessee, in response to the need for assertive community-based treatment for individuals who have required frequent inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Since 1993, MHC has been passionately helping adults with severe mental illness to live quality lives in the community with our state-of-the-art treatment and support. In 1999, MHC recognized the need to support the whole family and expanded services to include children and youth.
We established our non-profit agency by merging three community organizations: Urban Case Management of Meharry Community Health Center, Continuous Treatment Team of Council of Community Services, and Mobile Crisis Team of the Crisis Intervention Center.
This fusion resulted in an innovative, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary approach that addresses the specialized needs of individuals living with severe behavioral health conditions and challenges related to poverty. MHC remains the only organization in the state focused solely on this population.
