Responsibilities:
Facilitates the patient admission process, including activities like accurate patient identification, demographic and insurance information, and gathering required signatures and documents. Ensures verification and authorization of insurance benefits on all patient accounts through electronic systems and/or third-party payers to ensure precise and swift reimbursement. Provides information on and answers inquiries about the Payment Assistance program. Collects co-payments and patient liabilities, and enters all relevant details into the hospital's computer system.
Qualifications:
Minimum
- High school graduate or equivalent mix of experience and/or education
- Prior experience in a clerical environment
- Proficiency in computer skills
Preferred
- At least one (1) year of experience in prior authorization, precertification, insurance benefits, and their application to hospital registration or medical office settings. Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with EMR/Cerner systems
- Current BLS certification
- Prior exposure to an EMR; Cerner experience highly preferred
