Description
PeaceHealth is currently looking for a Security Officer for a Per Diem/Relief position with variable hours. The salary range for this job is approximately $30.97 per hour. The final rate will be determined based on various factors such as job responsibilities, location, and experience.
Job Summary
The Security Officer role involves providing safety and security services, involving interactions with patients, visitors, caregivers, and clinicians in diverse and complex situations. The officer also collaborates with local law enforcement, performs security patrols, and manages access control as needed.
Essential Functions
- Provides safety and security services including patrolling, securing entryways, and responding to emergencies.
- Offers stand-by and escort services for protection when necessary.
- Assists with non-violent crisis intervention and provides crowd control during events.
- Coordinates with external agencies for emergency protocols.
- Ensures adherence to safety protocols and completes necessary documentation.
- Assists with Life Flight transports and maintains building access control systems.
- Performs other assigned duties.
Education
- High School Diploma preferred or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years military or civilian security/law enforcement experience required.
- Healthcare facility security experience preferred.
- Completion of CPI/de-escalation training within 180 days of employment required.
- IAHSS - Basic certification required within 180 days.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to formulate and implement action plans, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills required.
- Data entry skills necessary.
- Good physical condition for required tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools required.
- Acceptable driving record as per company policy.
If tasers are required, officers must successfully complete the Taser Training Program and carry tasers while on duty.
Working Conditions
Lifting
- Requires fine motor skills and abilities for various tasks.
- May involve lifting up to 50 lbs. force occasionally.
- Exposure to biohazards, body fluids, and different temperatures.
- Normal visual and hearing capabilities required.
- Effective communication skills necessary.
