About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Manager to join our team at PeaceHealth. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for directing all maintenance operations at our health care facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directs Maintenance Operations: Oversee and manage all aspects of routine maintenance, including management of the physical plant, electrical delivery systems, medical gas delivery systems, emergency generators, and physical plant troubleshooting and project management.
  • Manages Engineering Staff: Supervise and manage engineering staff, including tradespersons, day laborers, electricians, painters, plant engineers, general contractors, journeymen, and electrical engineers.
  • Ensures Safety and Compliance: Ensure the general safety of the hospital and act as the designated safety manager. Supervise general contractors hired to assist with renovations, new construction, or modifications to the existing structure.
  • Provides Technical Assistance: Provide practical knowledge regarding building maintenance, operation of steam distribution systems, air conditioning and heating systems, building automatic control systems, water distribution, fire protection, sanitary and storm sewer operations, piped medical gases, electrical distribution, and central utility plants for steam and chilled water.
  • Evaluates and Recommends Equipment and Systems: Evaluate, locate, and recommend equipment and systems for replacement or upgrades. Evaluate the condition and function of building utility systems to determine needs and priorities for capital funding requests.
  • Manages Regulatory Compliance: Manage regulatory preparation, physical plant troubleshooting, and project management. Ensure compliance with CMS, Federal Accreditation Agencies, State Health Departments, and other regulatory business appointments.
  • Manages Departmental Budgets: Prepare and monitor departmental budgets to ensure operation within the approved budget.
  • Interprets Policies and Procedures: Interpret policies and procedures to personnel as needed. Manage assigned staff, including hiring, firing, training, coaching, mentoring, development, and performance management.
  • Reviews and Evaluates Programs and Services: Review and evaluate existing programs, services, policies, and procedures. Develop recommendations for improvements and implement or guide implementation of new and/or modified programs, services, policies, or procedures.
  • Communicates with Stakeholders: Meet with operational teams, medical administrative and supervisory staff, community groups, agencies, contractors, architects, and engineers to plan, organize, coordinate, and/or communicate programs, services, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Monitors Workload and Quality: Monitor the flow and quality of work to ensure timely completion of workload and adherence to facility standards and regulations.
  • Serves as CMMS Database Administrator: Serve as the regional Maximo CMMS database administrator.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant facilities experience and 3 years of facility management experience, preferably within a healthcare environment.
  • Credentials: Required: Driver's License. Preferred within 2 years: Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager by the American Hospital Association.
  • Skills: Knowledge of facilities, safety, and security codes, security applications, and current issues related to employee safety regulations as well as state and local regulatory agencies to ensure continued compliance as necessary. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Understanding of HIPAA, safety, and security regulations as well as the ability to liaison with city, state, county, and federal officials. Ability to manage complex projects in a dynamic and evolving environment. Proficient in MS Office applications.
Working Conditions
  • Lifting: Consistently operates computer and other office equipment. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work.
  • Environmental Conditions: Predominantly operates in an office environment.
  • Mental/Visual: Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
