Overview: Gallagher Bassett Technical Services is seeking a qualified professional to become a valued member of our Construction Site Safety Operations team. The ideal candidate for this position must have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of an active roadway utility construction site work team as a traffic control flagger.

It will be a W-2 position. We are not able to do 1099 or C2C.

You must meet our U.S. Eligibility requirements for work authorization as noted under "Additional Information" at the bottom of the job description.

Salary $15.00 – 25.00/hour depending on experience level.

Responsibilities: Position Summary:

Position reports to the Director of Safety Field Operations and will be primarily a remote position.

Position requires travel within the Orange County, New York regional area(s).

Communicating with other flaggers using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single lane.

Informing the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety.

Appropriately positioning warning and detour signs around construction sites.

Setting up barricades and traffic cones along construction sites to cordon off certain areas.

Removing all signs, barricades, and traffic cones upon completion of construction work.

Assisting the construction crew in the removal of rubble, debris, and hazardous materials.

Recording the license plate numbers of motorists who neglect to obey traffic signs and directions.

Communicating with your partner to keep everyone safe.

Being attentive to, managing and controlling traffic flow with stop/slow paddles.

Qualifications: Required:

High school Diploma or GED.

Detail oriented with effective oral communication skills.

Knowledge of New York State traffic regulations, excellent observation skills and mastery roadway traffic control and flagging/safety operations and associated responsibilities such as proper positioning of signage, cones, and barricades.

Must hold flagger certification from a recognized training program such as American Safety Services Association, National Safety Council or a recognized construction industry association.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Ability to work on your feet for long periods of time (8+ hours per day), lift pounds, and work in all types of seasonal weather and temperature conditions (typically March through October annually).

Availability on occasion for off-shift and weekend work.

Desired:

1+ year of experience in roadway/utility traffic safety.

Proven experience as a roadway traffic safety flagger.

Bi-lingual or multi-lingual communication skills.

Located in Orange County, NY or surrounding counties (Putnam, Rockland, Westchester).
